The former ReTagIt store at 1123 Goodale Boulevard in Grandview will soon be demolished and replaced with a five-story building. Brexton LLC will be moving their headquarters to the top floor of the new building, above three floors of self-storage and a ground-floor parking garage.
The project was approved unanimously by the Grandview Heights City Council at a special meeting on June 20th. The approval came after the proposal was voted down by the city’s Planning Commission. Input received at a subsequent public hearing on the development was generally positive, according to meeting minutes.
The new building represents the first of what could be many new projects along a stretch of Goodale that connects the 90-acre Grandview Yard development with the rest of the suburb. City officials and Planning Commission members have stressed the importance of thoughtful planning for the corridor.
Brexton CEO Tim Galvin said that demolition and site work will start as soon as the company closes on its construction loan, which he expects to happen by the end of the month. The 1.1-acre property was acquired by an affiliated LLC at the end of June for $1.125 million.
