Reminderville’s $5.1 Million Rec Center May be Open in Summer

Reminderville — Walls are going up at the new $5.1 million Reminderville Recreation Center at Glenwood Boulevard and Liberty Road, and village officials are hoping for a July opening.

feb24-2016news“People are excited about it,” Mayor Sam Alonso said. “We vacillated for a long time whether to do it or not.”

Cost of the rec center, being constructed by Brexton LLC of Columbus, sits at $5.1 million. The village purchased the land for $1.23 million in February 2014.

The two-story, 42,000-square-foot facility will feature a 5,000-square-foot fitness center open 24-7, a suspended track overlooking two basketball and volleyball courts with hardwood floors, a pool and maybe a smoothie bar.

“We tried to incorporate stuff so that … [both those working out] and those interested in casual fitness are covered,” Alonso said.
